What Does Public Adjuster Mean?

A public adjuster is an insurance professional whose role is to assist policyholders in filing claims with insurance companies. They represent the insured, not the insurer.

Insuranceopedia Explains Public Adjuster

Independent adjusters and company adjusters work for insurance companies, and therefore prioritize the company’s interests when handling a claim.

In contrast, a public adjuster works on behalf of the policyholder. They are typically hired when the policyholder finds the claims process too stressful or complex, or if they have concerns about the adjuster provided by the insurance company.
