What Does Public Adjuster Mean?
Insuranceopedia Explains Public Adjuster
Independent adjusters and company adjusters work for insurance companies, and therefore prioritize the company’s interests when handling a claim.
In contrast, a public adjuster works on behalf of the policyholder. They are typically hired when the policyholder finds the claims process too stressful or complex, or if they have concerns about the adjuster provided by the insurance company.
