Some surgeries can costs tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. Many insurance policies will only cover medically necessary surgeries. This means that that the policyholder would have to pay out of pocket for elective surgeries. Elective surgeries are often cosmetically based and conducted because the person believes the surgery will improve his or her appearance.
