Miscellaneous Expenses
Updated: 18 November 2024
What Does Miscellaneous Expenses Mean?
Miscellaneous expenses are additional charges that fall outside the scope of primary costs. Many health insurance policies impose limits on miscellaneous expenses, which typically apply during hospital visits.
Insuranceopedia Explains Miscellaneous Expenses
A health insurance policy may, for example, provide full coverage for room and board but offer only limited coverage for miscellaneous charges.
Miscellaneous expenses could include costs for x-rays, drug tests, and other additional treatments beyond the primary care provided. If a policyholder exceeds the limit for miscellaneous expenses, they will be responsible for paying the remaining costs out of pocket.
