What Does Acupuncture Mean?

Acupuncture is the practice of inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to promote healing or treat various ailments. Although it originated in China, this form of treatment has gained popularity and spread to Western countries.

Insuranceopedia Explains Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese medical practitioners believe that certain areas of the body are pathways through which energy, the source of good health, naturally flows. An interruption of this flow is thought to negatively affect a person’s well-being. Acupuncture involves strategically inserting needles to restore balance and remedy this disruption.

Though traditionally classified as alternative medicine, acupuncture is now widely recognized as a legitimate treatment, even by the World Health Organization (WHO), for addressing conditions such as gastritis, sinusitis, and others.
